..and now they’re calling the Saintpaul Outbreak. Is it tomatos? Is it something else? Who knows? No one yet. Local officials say that it’s hard to figure out.
“Going back to figuring out the origin is so complex given that tomatoes are used for so many different things,” said Michigan Department of Community Health spokesman, James McCurtis Jr.
Health officials are warning consumers jalepeno and serrano peppers along with cilantro may also be included in the outbreak.
They also warn the tomatoes involved in the salmonella outbreak can be used in the preparation of fresh salsa, guacamole and pico de gallo along with other dishes.
According to a Michigan Department of Community Health Press Release, there have been 19 cases of salmonella in Michigan related to the Saitpaul outbreak. Of those 19, three have been in Eaton County and six have been in Ingham County.

Not really sure what to do. I don’t eat a whole lot of tomatos, but I do like peppers occassionaly. It’s been a while since I’ve bought any Jalapeno or Cerrano peppers or Cilantro, but now I’l have to make an effort to cook them if I do. At least habanero’s aren’t on the list….yet.
