CELEBRATE MICHIGAN AT VAN ATTA’S FALL FAMILY FUN FEST

Haslett, Mich. – Van Atta’s Greenhouse & Flower Shop will hold a family festival with a
Celebrate Michigan theme on Saturday & Sunday September 27 & 28 from noon to 5:00
p.m. Free Michigan food will be served while local musicians provide a wide variety of
live entertainment. Many Michigan artists will be displaying their unique creations for
sale. Preserve Lake Lansing Trails will hold a fund raiser featuring a midway of games
and an obstacle course for children. There will be a Michigan 4-H petting zoo, the
Animal Resource Center, the Nature Discovery reptile & amphibian display, henna
tattooing, face painting, and much more. A clown and a juggler will perform at selected
times. Van Atta’s is located 1 ½ mile east of Marsh Road on Old M-78 in Haslett.

Annual Taste of the Chamber Event to Showcase East Lansing’s Culinary Expertise
East Lansing Restaurants, Caterers, & Beverage Distributors to Highlight Networking Event

Area residents are invited to come et a Taste of the Chamber at the Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce’s (LRCC) third annual Taste of the Chamber event held in East Lansing on July 31.  This fun-filled outdoor networking event features samples of the many culinary delights from East Lansing restaurants and caterers, as well as cold beer, wine, and soft drinks.  More than 400 Chamber members and guests are expected to attend.

Taste of the Chamber…East Lansing will be held from 5:30 PM until 8:30 PM on Thursday, July 31 in Downtown East Lansing, 230 Albert St., East Lansing.

“The Chamber’s summer networking event has always been the highlight of the summer for our members,” said Tim Daman, Vice President, Operations & Strategic Initiatives “The Taste of the Chamber event has really become a major event for the entire region to enjoy.  The fact that East Lansing has so many outstanding restaurants participating really makes this year’s even a must-attend affair.”

Red Cross collects food and money donations at the

‘Food Fight’ at Sam’s Club

(Lansing, MI)

 

Saturday, July 19, 2008 at Sam’s Club on Edgewood Blvd., the Mid-Michigan Food Bank raised over $12,240.00 and collected some 26,300 pounds of donated food. The people of the Lansing area showed their caring and concern by generously donating much-needed items such as peanut butter and tuna fish. 26,300 pounds of food will stock the food bank’s mobile food pantry for one of its weekly trips. Shoppers and donors could also purchase hot dogs and pop donated by Sam’s Club, with those proceeds also going to the Mid-Michigan Food Bank. Local radio stations from 99.1 WFMK, 100.7 WITL, 97.5, 94.9 WMMQ, The Game 730 AM, Newstalk 1240AM (Citadel Broadcasting Company) were on-location all day, as were Fox 47 News and WILX News 10, all helping to load the food in the pouring rain. Ralph Shaheen of Shaheen Chevrolet brought over two trucks, which were filled with food 22 times. Shaheen Chevrolet also very generously donated 40% of the cash raised.
