The State Side Deli on Okemos Road

We went out to lunch and planned on doing some shopping in Okemos this afternoon.  Our restaurant of choice was Gilbert and Blake’s.  When we pulled into the parking, we noticed a new deli across the street with a “Grand Opening” banner hanging out front.  It’s called State Side Deli.  They’re on Okemos Road in the strip mall directly across from Gilbert and Blake’s.

After lunch, we headed cross town to Horrocks.  I almost suggested stopping at Ice Cream Joes, so I was looking for it.  Ultimately, we didn’t, but as we drove by, I noticed a new name on the side.  It’s now called The Uddery Creamery.  We didn’t stop, so I don’t know if anything’s changed, but we really liked Ice Cream Joe’s when we stopped in back in the spring.

I currently work in Okemos, and saw the grand opening sign after I got off the freeway Saturday and thought I would stop by. Since Saturday, I have been sick with food poisoning it was the last thing I ate before I got sick and the only thing I had eaten that day. I wouldn’t suggest eating here.

Great new deli – excellent corned beef sandwich!! Just like what you can get in Detroit.

That’s funny, corned beef was what I got food poisoning from. I have a few co-workers who have also gotten sick from food eaten at this deli.

I was out in Okemos the other day and noticed the sign for the State Side Deli.. Being in the mood for a corned beef sandwich I figured I’d give it a try…. This Deli is the best I’ve been to since I was a kid growing up in Oak Park. The food is fantastic and the prices are great… Okemos you’re lucky, this is a real treat…

Wow. This place is the first REAL deli that Lansing has seen in many years. The food is great, the service is excellent and the prices are decent for the quality of food. I loved it.
