Mid-Michigan Dining

I keep seeing commercials on the tee-vee for dewmocracy.com where you can vote for a new Mt. Dew flavor.  The three choices are Supernova, Voltage and Revolution.  What exactly does that mean?

Supernova –  Mt. Dew with a blast of Strawberry Melon Flavor and Ginseng

Voltage – Mt Dew charged with Rasberry Citrys Flavor and Ginseng

Revolution – Mt. Dew infused with Wild Berry Fruit Flavor and Ginseng

Does that sound good to anyone?  What’s wrong with Mt. Dew?  Do they really think adding Ginseng is a good selling point? 

I drink a lot of Mt. Dew.  Too much actually.  For a while, that’s all I drank.  I slowly switched back to Pepsi.  See, I stopped drinking Pepsi after playing a drinking game with some friends.  I was a dork and didn’t start drinking beer until after I was 21, so until then, whenever I would play drinking games with friends, I would drink Pepsi instead of alcohol.  One night while camping, we were playing Asshole.  I was the Asshole pretty much all night.  I probably drank at least a half of a case of Pepsi in a couple hours.  It should come as no surprise to anyone that I got really, really sick that night.  The problem was, it felt like I was just throwing up the syrup and it burned really bad.  I stopped drinking Pepsi for four or five years after that.  During that time, I only drank Mt. Dew and I only drank the original.  Maybe once or twice I would drink Code Red, but never any of the exotic flavors.  I never understood why they would even introduce them.  They’d be in a cooler near the cash register for a buck less than the original and they’d only last a few months.  Why spend time and energy introducing the new brand?
