As I was perusing Craigslist this evening, I came across an add for a new restaurant opening in the Okemos/East Lansing area. There aren’t a whole lot of details and to apply, you need to fill out an application at Bennigan’s. The name of the new place is Wild Wing Cafe. The chain started on Hilton Head, but that’s about all I could find. I fired off an e-mail to corporate to see if I can get some more details…I’ll update this post if I do…
I do like me some wings….
UPDATE – 6/24/08 – 1:55 PM – The mystery of why you need to go to Bennigan’s to fill out an application has been solved. I got this e-mail this morning from Shelly Nelson who is the Wings Over America Inc. Assistant Franchise Director.
First of all we are so excited to be “Spreading our Wings” to the North. The new Wild Wing Cafe will be a Franchised location owned and operated by the Labelle Management group. The Bennigan’s restaurant located at 2085 W. Grand River Okemos, MI 48864 will be converted into a Wild Wing Cafe with a projected opening date of July 31st. Please keep checking our Website at www.wildwingcafe.com for more opening information as it becomes available.
When does the restaurant open?
“a projected opening date of July 31st”
I dont usually reply to posts but in this case. WOW
I had the pleasure of living on Hilton Head when Wild Wings was opened in Coligny Circle. I still remember the “bucket of Rocks” for $6.00 and the China Syndrome wings that have actually been toned down over the years.
I tell all my friends here in Michigan that frequent Buffalo Wild Wings that if Wild Wings Cafe came to town Buffalos would be closed within the next year following. The food is NOT even close. In fact I cant believe Buffalos has been as succesful as they have with processed frozen food, cubed pieces of chicken(frozen obviously) on the nachos and sauce slathered on the wings but not really “cooked in” like Wild Wings does. Wait until ya go there folks. It truly is Unbelievable food in a great environment.
Wild Wings Cafe was open for less than 6 months, closing down before students came back from summer break stating that sales were less than expected.
– Duh –
Lansing restaurant chain “Leo’s” has opened another branch in this location (making this their 3rd venue) and finally looks like a place with staying power. They’ve been packed almost every night since opening. Too bad WWC couldn’t make it work, but we’re happy to have another locally owned business doing so well in their place.
