Looking for suggestions again. J and I are going to do some shopping and check out Ann Arbor. I’ve been there a few times for work, but never had time to walk around downtown. Since UM is on the road, we thought we’d head that way and check out H & M and try to find some place to eat. I know I want to eat at Zingerman’s for lunch, but are there any good suggestions for dinner? I’ve hit the hip college spots (Blimpy Burger and Fleetwood). Is there anyplace else that we just have to go to?
The Earle is a great French provincial restaurant.
awesome…that was one of the places I was looking at. Looks good!
I wouldn’t make a trip to Ann Arbor without stopping at Seva (314 E Liberty St). Yum!
Seva is awesome for vegetarian… Prickly Pear has great southwestern…the Earle is great fine dining…as is the Chop House…there is Zingerman’s Roadhouse…or the original Zingerman’s for a fantastic albeit overpriced sandwich…Grizzly Peak is a brewery with good food…hmmmm…Morgan and York is a little foodie paradise with house made cheeses. We stumbled in there one day when they had freshly made (still warm) mozzarella. We probably ate a half pound of it in the car in the parking lot with some sea salt. There are more…Eve has great food, as does Sweet Lorraine’s. If you are there for breakfast, go to Angelo’s. Can you tell I miss working in Ann Arbor? I will be there for a conference on October 10th…now I need to decide where I want to go for dinner that night!
Awesome! You guys came through again.
Amy, is there a Sweet Lorraine’s in Ann Arbor?
I’ll be sure to let you know what we chose. I’ve also been told Casey’s on Depot St. or Red Hawk on State St. would be a good choice for a bar.
I swear there was…I might be wrong. It looks like there isn’t now. Maybe it was just there in the late 90s when I worked there. If you make it to a Sweet Lorraine’s they are awesome.
Just found out…the Ann Arbor location closed in 2000. Scratch that one. Let us know where you go!
We ended up eating at Zingerman’s which was awesome…expensive, but awesome. Dinner was a tough choice, but we went with Grizzly Peak to try and soften the blow to the checkbook after a long day of shopping. It was good….not great and a little pricey, but good. I’ll put up more about our trip later tonight or tomorrow. It was a long, rainy day…but totally worth it and a blast.
