Arby’s is my guilty pleasure.  I know I give chains a hard time on this blog, but if there’s one fast food place I could eat at everyday, it would be Arby’s.  Growing up, Arby’s was always a treat because it does tend to be a little more expensive than a Wendy’s or McDonald’s, but the food is soooooo much better.  Now, it’s about the only fast food I eat at regularly.

The first thing you’ll notice about the Arby’s on South Cedar is the old sign out front.  There was one store in my last town of Peoria, IL.  I think we did some research and found out there’s only a handful of these old signs left.  The old sign sits in front of a more modern building.  I let my girlfriend talk me into going through the drive-thru.  I HATE drive thru’s.  I can never understand the person talking to me and I feel like they always get something wrong because they can’t hear me.  I did it anyway because neither of us were totally awake yet or dressed very well, but we needed lunch.

Arby'sI got my usual large roast beef and a large fry.  The large roast beef used to be called the Big Montana.  It’s eight ounces of beef piled on a lightly toasted bun.  It’s Arby’s largest sandwich and comes in it’s own special plastic box.  At this location, they only serve the curly fries.  I really prefer the homestyle fries, but I got the curly’s.  I really like this sandwich.  It is a lot of meat and can be hard to fit in my mouth, but it’s so much better than a greasy burger and really filling.  The fries were ok.  Like I said, I prefer the homestyle fries which aren’t on the menu here.

My girlfriend ordere the popcorn chicken bites meal which came with loaded potato bites and she substituted a chocolate milkshake for a pop.  The milkshake is really what she wanted.  The shake was thick, but not very chocolatey.  She ate the potato bites first and by the time she got to the popcorn chicken, she was getting full, so she handed three or four pieces of chicken to me.  I really like Arby’s chicken.  It actually tastes like chicken you would fry up at home.

All said, it cost us under fifteen bucks for a quick lunch.  I made it through the drive-thru alright and didn’t screw up our order, so it wasn’t a bad trip.  I’ll be back to Arby’s more than I care to admit to, but everyone’s got to have one of those guilty little pleasures….right?

Very disappointed with the service, very slow and rude/snappy. Will not be going there again. 17minutes in the drive thru line for soggy frys and a cold sandwich.

Wow, small world….I living in Lansing now, and my boyfriend works at this Arby’s. I was, however, born and raised in….Peoria, IL. 🙂 I wondered why I found this old sign so nostalgic….I totally forgot about the one in Peoria that has it!
