Sounds like a good time, but I’m going to be at MIS on Saturday for the Craftsman Truck Series Race.
Webberville, Michigan – The 2008 MBC 5K Beer Run, the Michigan Brewing Company Father’s Day weekend tradition, will be held at the company’s headquarters on Saturday evening, June 14th in Webberville, Michigan.
This great event raises money to support the Sparrow Foundation’s W3 committee goal to fund a new HDR machine that treats several types of cancer including prostate cancer. The MBC Beer Run is also an opportunity to promote and educate event participants about prostate health.
Runners (or purposeful walkers!) in this popular race – approximately 3.1 miles – take off at 6pm from inside MBC’s 76,000 sq. foot brewery. They follow a multi-terrain, double-loop course around the wetland preserve and ponds near the brewing company in the Webberville Business Park.
A registration fee of $20 – $25 to register on the day of the race – includes a t-shirt, refreshments and a chance to win MBC brand prizes. Prizes will be awarded to the top three winners in each of 12 categories. Registration forms can be downloaded from www.michiganbrewing.com. Completed forms and checks can be dropped off at the MBC Pub, or mailed to Michigan Brewing Company, 1093 Highview Drive, Webberville, MI 48892.
MBC is donating almost all of the expenses, with help from a great group of sponsors who believe in a good time for a great cause,” says MBC owner Bobby Mason. “We had talked about this beer run concept for years and pulled it together for the first time last year. We had more than 150 runners – and a lot of fun. And we think we’ll exceed that number, and the fun, this year,” he adds.
MBC has relied heavily on the race expertise of Playmakers out of Okemos, Michigan. Other generous sponsors include Merindorf Meats, Great Gazebo, Culver’s of Okemos, Quality Maid and Warmels & Comstock, PLLC
