I’m not usually a trendy person. The whole idea of “going green” would have been laughable to me a few years ago. I’m still not very good at it. Convenience and cost are still more important to me. I was laughing yesterday when J and I pulled our groceries out of her SUV. We always bring reusable shopping bags to the store….so we’re good that way. The funny thing about the whole scene was J was carrying the reusable shopping bags and I was carrying a case of bottled water. They kind of cancelled each other out.
A few days ago, I was reading Forest Street Kitchen. ImagineAnnie has a long, detailed post about the struggles of trying to live green for someone who really wants to. I, on the other hand, am selfish.
Times are tough. I haven’t had a full time job since moving to Michigan, but J and I still do pretty well for ourselves. We’re smart shoppers and unfortunately, that means not buying local, organic food from farmer’s markets. I feel bad about it, but I don’t feel bad about saving the money.
I would encourage you all to check out the post “It’s Not Easy, Being Green.” It’s a very interesting, well thought out post about how hard it is to actually live a green lifestyle.
I agree! Ann’s post is well thought out and well written. She is one smart cookie!
