Traverse City Eats

17 09 2008

J and I are making up for not having weekends off together this summer.  After spending the afternoon in Ann Arbor last weekend, we’re going to take a mini vacation to Traverse City this weekend, so once again, I’m looking for food suggestions.  I’ve got a pretty good list going of places that look good.

Cook’s House
North Peak Brewing (which I believe is the same as Grizzly Peak Brewing in Ann Arbor)
Don’s Drive In
Hanna’s Bistro
Trattoria Stella
Moomer’s
Folgarelli’s Market

Any opinions on any of those or anything else that we have to try?

Absolutely positively must go to Cook’s House.

Seriously good stuff. I haven’t actually done a full review since our visit (lunch menu) because I’m being selfish and not sharing this place with other people. Or because I don’t think I can do it justice.

Call me jealous.

Cook’s House I actually found on your website. I saw the link to the Chef’s blog. Every review I’ve read about it has been extremely positive. I think that will probably be one of the first places we go in Traverse City.

If you are going to Moomer’s, not to far is a steakhouse called Boones on Long Lake Rd. http://www.booneslli.com/Boones/ This place has become our favorite place for steak and we are known to drive up there for it. Sad I know 🙂

Looks good. What’s the price like on that one?

It ranges from 10-25 dollars a plate, including salad, potato and bread. My fiance gets the largest NY Strip and I think its around $22 and he can never finish it. If you like steak its the place to go, nothing fancy, just nice atmosphere and great food.
